What's New!

Yep, having another person to write about has set our blog back WAAAAY farther than we wanted it to! Instead of trying to go back and fill in all of the blanks right away we've decided to start where we are right now and then back fill as we have time...

So, read about what we're up to now and then check below for links to past months that we've updated :-)

Minnesota State Fair

Today we ventured out to the Minnesota Sate Fair. Besides Madeline getting to try tons of great new foods, there were so many cool things to see!

We went to the hog barn and saw the biggest pig there, but Madeline thought the baby piggies were the best :-)
We went to the cattle barn too. Cousin Jason was there with his purple prize winning cow. Madeline even got to pet it! After a lot of walking around Madeline's aunt Melanie
took her on her first carousel ride :-)We're going to have to go back every year to ride the carousel - she loved it!

Even Cooler Hair!

Today we discovered that Madeline's hair is long enough for piggy tails! We put them in around at breakfast time to keep her hair out of her eyes, but kept them in all day because they were so cute! She's been wondering what all of the pictures and laughing are for... someday she'll understand just how adorable she is :-)

Cool Hair!

Lately Madeline has had some some pretty cool hair-dos, especially after she's had her hair in a ponytail on top of her head all day... even when the ponytail holder comes out her hair still stands straight up!

Playing Outside

It was such a nice day today. After we got home from the festival we spent the rest of the day playing outside. She crawled all over the place! She found some of her favorite rocks and sticks... and got her toes all dirty :-) We think she liked the purple flowers the best! What a fun day!!!

St. Wenceslaus Festival

Today was the church festival. They had all kinds of fun things to do, but Madeline just liked to play on the playground equipment. It was her first time down the slide... and her first time on the big kid swingof course dad was there with her :-) She climbed through the tunnel all by herself! Later Aunt Melanie took her for a walk and when she came back she had pink hair and a tattoo... we hope this isn't a flash into the future!

More Potty Time

We've been continuing with the potty chair and she's really good about going before and after her naps. We've also noticed that we can tell when she's about to dirty her diaper. So, we thought if we catch her before she goes, we could get her to go on the potty. We finally caught her today and she went!
She gave mom a big high five when she was done :-)

Corn on the Cob

Everyone was eating corn on the cob for dinner tonight. We tried to cut some off for Madeline, but that wasn't good enough - she wanted to eat it like to grown-ups! So, Daddy shared his :-) She loved it!

Colorado

This weekend we flew to Colorado for a friend's wedding. Since Godfather (Uncle) Nick and Kate live in Denver, they helped watch Madeline. Daddy was in the wedding so he wore a tux. Madeline liked playing with the flowers. We all had fun at the reception. The next morning everyone went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Madeline made everyone laugh when she put on her "cool dude" sunglasses and cardboard hat :-) We hope we get to visit Colorado again soon!

Lunch with Great Grandma Deutsch

Today we went out for lunch with Great Grandma Deutsch. Great Grandma was amazed at how well Madeline sat in her high chair and ate her grilled cheese and pickles! We had fun, we'll have to go out for lunch with Great Grandma more often :-)

First Time on the Potty

A lot of people might think we're crazy to be trying this already, but Grandma Judy said mom was potty trained by the time she was 18 months old! We're not really being too serious about it, but if she wakes up from her nap dry, we going to try to put her on the potty. Today was the first time we tried it and it worked - she went right away! She has no clue what she did, but she likes how excited we got and clapped for herself right along with us :-) There's no way she can tell us when she needs to go, but we figure the more she does it, the more she'll get used to it and eventually she'll be able to tell us when she has to go. For now we'll just put her on every once in a while - it can't hurt to start early and since mom isn't working right now, we have the perfect opportunity to start practicing :-)

Watch our new house being built!
